Package level and Package Contains SKU block in the Product Type

Modified on Fri, 9 Aug at 1:39 PM

The Package Contains SKU block is required/not required based on the Package level specific, which determines the package hierarchy relationship.

More information about package hierarchy can be found in this Amazon article.

In other words, if the product SKU contains other items inside (do not confuse with variation products), then Case or Pallet should be chosen for the Package level, and the Package Contains SKU block is required.

Otherwise, the Unit option would apply for the Package level, and the Package Contains SKU isn`t required and should be set as "Not Selected"

The Unit can be used for both (Single and Configurable products).

Why are the correct settings for Package level and Package Contains SKU block important?

In case the incorrect settings are specified for the Package level and the Package Contains SKU block of the Product Type, the following warnings are returned by Amazon.

The attribute is invalid. The parent SKU 12345 was refused because there exists at least one non-approved package_contains relationship. Address any other issues associated with the SKU before resubmitting the relationship.

We cannot recognise your child SKU: [12345]. For help on how to proceed, see https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/errorcode/8008.

How can you avoid the warnings and list the products?

Please check whether the correct configurations are set for the Package level and Package Contains SKU block in the Product Type and try to list the product again.

There are cases when the appropriate configurations are set, but Amazon still returns the warnings. The reason for that is the previously provided information for the Package Contains SKU block was saved on Amazon`s side, and now it causes the error even if this information is no longer provided.

To solve the issue, you can contact Amazon support or change the product SKU as a workaround.

Since the data on the Amazon side is linked to the SKU you provide, changing the product SKU will help avoid the warning and list the product.

There are two options to change the product SKU:

  • change the SKU in the Magento catalog.

  • use SKU modification functionality. It allows you to send modified SKU to Amazon; however, your Magento SKU remains the same.

Once the new SKU is sent to Amazon, the warnings should no longer be returned.

Please be aware that after enabling SKU modification, it will be applied to all future listed products in the M2E listing.

If it doesn`t suit you, please consider moving the product that requires SKU modification into another listing.
