How to test M2E TikTok Shop extension

Modified on Tue, 20 Aug at 12:00 PM

TikTok Shop provides the ability to create a sandbox account that can be used during the testing.

To obtain the sandbox account, go to the TikTok Shop Partner Center, go to Development Kits > Sandbox, and click on "Seller test accounts".
Within the Seller test account section, click "Go to Seller Center" to access the test shop.

After this, you can add this sandbox account to the M2E TikTok Shop extension by navigating to M2E TikTok Shop > Configuration > Accounts > Add account.
When adding an account, please log into the sandbox account instead of the live one.

Please find more details in our documentation.

Once the account is added, you can test the functionality without affecting your live TikTok Shop account.

You can also perform testing using your live account as well. For this, it's required to follow the next steps:

Step 1: Disable Automatic Magento Order Creation

While M2E TikTok Shop's basic function is to import TikTok Shop orders automatically, you can temporarily disable the automatic creation of Magento orders. Navigate to TikTok Shop > Configuration > Accounts > Orders.
Set "Create order in Magento" to "No" for both "Products listed by M2E TikTok Shop" and "Products listed by any other software".
Note
If you have several TikTok Shop accounts linked to M2E TikTok Shop, make sure to disable the "Create order in Magento" option for each of them.

Step 2: Disable Automatic Stock Synchronization

Under TikTok Shop Integration > Configuration > Settings > Synchronizationset "M2E TikTok Shop Listings Synchronization" to "No."
This prevents automatic updates of your TikTok Shop items based on the Synchronization Policy rules. You can apply these rules manually during testing.

Step 3: Disable Import of Existing TikTok Shop Items

If you don't need your existing TikTok Shop products in M2E TikTok Shop, you can disable their automatic import.
Go to TikTok Shop > Configuration > Accounts > Unmanaged Listings and set "Import Unmanaged Listings" to "No."
Tip
This step is optional. M2E TikTok Shop does not manage Items imported from the TikTok Shop unless you link them to the respective Magento products and move them to the M2E TikTok Shop Listing.

Step 4: Begin Testing
With the settings adjusted, you can now proceed with your testing.

Note
If you have M2E TikTok Shop on both live and test Magento instances, we recommend using different TikTok Shop accounts while testing to avoid double synchronization.

How to Test Order Processing?

Before testing order creation in the M2E TikTok Shop, you need to purchase an item on the TikTok Shop.
Log in to TikTok Shop with another account to place an order or use an existing imported sale, accessible under M2E TikTok Shop Integration > Sales > Orders.

Inside the order, you can view detailed information, including billing and shipping addresses, logs, etc.
Since automatic order creation was disabled, you can manually initiate Magento order creation by clicking "Create order."

How to Test Listing Management?

You can create an M2E TikTok Shop Listing and add test products under M2E TikTok Shop > Items > Add Listing.

Once your Listing is ready, you can test List, Relist, Revise, and Stop actions on products to see how they update on the TikTok Shop:
  • List Item(s) : Submit a non-listed product to the TikTok Shop.
  • Revise Item(s): Fully update a listed product on the TikTok Shop.
  • Relist Item(s): Submit a previously inactive product to the TikTok Shop.
  • Stop Item(s) on Channel: Stop a product on the TikTok Shop.
  • Retire on TikTok Shop / Remove from Listing: Retire a product on the TikTok Shop and remove it from the M2E TikTok Shop Listing.

After Testing: Configuring M2E TikTok Shop for Use
Once you've completed your testing and are ready to use the M2E TikTok Shop, follow these steps to configure the necessary settings:

Step 1: Enable automatic Magento order creation under M2E TikTok Shop > Configuration > Accounts > Orders.
Step 2: Set up Inventory Synchronization under M2E TikTok Shop  > Configuration > Settings > Synchronization.
Step 3: Ensure that your Synchronization policies are correctly configured to facilitate smooth automatic synchronization.
